The September death of a toddler was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner Monday.

Billy Rebel Chapman, of St. Cloud, died due to a brain injury associated with "multiple blunt force injuries," according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

The manner of death was listed as homicide.

He was 22 months old at the time.

WCCO reported St. Cloud police officers were responding to a call that the boy fell, but the hospital found he had serious head injuries.

Chapman died Sept. 1 while at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, the examiner says.

The specific cause was "complications of an ischemic right cerebral infarct" – a lack of blood flow that seriously damages the brain.

Kathleen Heaney, the Sherburne County Attorney, told BringMeTheNews the matter is still under investigation, and right now does not have anything to share.

The Star Tribune spoke with the boy's family, and also noted no arrests have been made.
