Delays plague Best Buy website as holiday traffic builds
Best Buy says unprecedented traffic on its website caused delays Monday morning, although the company denied reports that the site had crashed.
Best Buy gave members of its loyalty program early online access to its Black Friday specials. A company spokeswoman says the delays were caused by a problem with the sales tax calculator that's part of the checkout process. Some customers reportedly waited nearly an hour to complete their transactions, sparking some social media backlash.
Best Buy is pinning high hopes on this year's holiday season. CEO Hubert Joly recently outlined a turnaround plan on Wall Street, where the company's stock price has fallen by one-third this year.
