Allman, 29, was camping with friends over the holiday weekend, with his obit noting he was "looking forward to spending time in the woods with buddies he loved."
The Lake County Sheriff's Office said on Sept. 7 Allman fell approximately 100 feet from a cliff, landing in the Caribou River below. He was rescued from the water by his friend, but was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving efforts.
"The world is truly a better place because of Daniel's presence in it," his obituary reads, noting he loved camping, cycling, his friends, heavy metal music, reading, critical thinking and his family.
Allman, a dentist at Boger Dental in Plymouth and a licensed real estate agent, grew up in Rochester, attending Mayo High School, where he played basketball and competed in the high jump.
He went on to attend Creighton University and obtain his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota, going on to make Minneapolis his home.
He is described as being "so happy" with a "caring spirit" and someone who believed in working hard and giving back, including through charitable dentistry at Hope Dental Clinic.
Hope Dental Clinic paid tribute to Allman, who has volunteered at the clinic since 2017, noting he was "so kind to everyone he met in the clinic and brought laughter to many."
"He lived fully, enjoyed every step of his life, and helped others appreciate and enjoy life," his obituary says. "His presence will be missed beyond words. We are so glad to have had Daniel in our lives but his ended much too soon."
A funeral service is being held for Allman on Saturday at River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, with visitation the night before and one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to Hope Dental Clinic of St. Paul.
