The Star Tribune has fast facts about this weekend's Minnesota's Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party convention in Rochester.

Gov. Mark Dayton, barred from the event two years go, returned to a standing ovation Saturday, says the Strib's Rachel E. Stassen-Berger, who is posting news from the convention to the Politics Hot Dish blog.

DFL Party chairman Ken Martin had tough words for the GOP, MPR says.

The party is energized to win back control of the Legislature, which it lost in a 2010 drubbing, the Associated Press says.

The DFL is poised for a comeback, MinnPost says.

The gathering amounts to a coronation of DFL Sen. Amy Klobuchar, the Pioneer Press says. It will look like a church picnic compared with the tumultuous Republican convention two weeks ago, the paper says.

Indeed, Klobuchar won the party endorsement to before a sea of cheering delegates, the Rochester Post Bulletin says.

The convention in Rochester brings money to town in addition to high-profile politicians, the Rochester Post Bulletin reports. “We think the overall economic impact is $1.2 million for the city,” said Brad Jones, executive director of Rochester’s Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Here's more info from the DFL about the event.

Meanwhile, the DFL landed a big speaker for its next big event, the annual Humphrey-Mondale Dinner Aug. 4 at the Minneapolis Convention Center, MPR says.
