A man is in jail facing homicide charges after a deadly shooting in downtown Minneapolis.
According to a release from the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD), it happened just before 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning in the "area of 6th Street North and Hennepin Avenue."
Officers arrived to find a man in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound. He was soon transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in "grave condition" and ultimately died of his wounds.
"Preliminary investigation reveals that the victim and another person got into a dispute which erupted into gunfire and the victim was struck," the release says.
A suspect, a 30-year-old male, was arrested at the scene for "Probable Cause Murder." BringMeTheNews does not typically name suspects until they have been formally charged with a crime.
The man has been booked into the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center pending charges.
The medical examiner will release the victim's identity and official cause of death in the coming days.
MPD says this was the city's 48th homicide of 2021.
