Edina police are warning drivers to pay attention at the wheel after one of the department's police vehicles was hit by a distracted driver.
"This is distracted driving. Your phone is not this important. Fortunately only minor injuries THIS time," Edina police wrote on Twitter Wednesday morning.
KARE 11 reports that the crash happened on the shoulder of Hwy. 169 near Londonderry Road and that the officer and the distracted driver were treated at Fairview Southdale.
Minnesota is in the middle of the 100 deadliest days on state roads, a period of time that begins on Memorial Day and runs through Labor Day. At least 118 people have been killed in crashes during that stretch each of the last six years, including 109 in crashes caused by distracted drivers.
