Search and rescue operations are continuing Monday in a pond at Loring Park after a man went underwater and didn't resurface Sunday night.
According to Minneapolis Fire Department, a nude man was seen struggling in the water around 8:25 p.m.
The fire department responded to the scene and entered the water in gumby suits with flotation devices and rapid deployment inflatable watercraft.
There isn't a boat launch at the pond so those were the resources available to the rescue team to reach the man the fastest.
KARE 11, citing a Minneapolis Park Board spokesperson, reports that the rescue team got within five feet of the man before he went under and didn't resurface.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office dive team has since taken over the operation.
