An 11-year-old boy was seriously injured when a dog attacked him inside a home in east-central Minnesota.

According to the Isanti County Sheriff's Office, the dog attack happened at a home on the 3000 block of 299th Ave. NW in Bradford Township just before 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Authorities arrived at the home after receiving a 911 call, and upon arrival they found the dog outside and the boy seriously injured inside the home. The child was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis and is expected to survive.

Another 11-year-old boy was also injured by the dog. He was treated at the scene.

The sheriff's office says the boys were attempting to get the dog out of a kennel when it attacked. The owner of the dog was not home at the time.

Per state law, the dog has been placed in a quarantine.

According to the Star Tribune, it was an American bully breed that attacked, biting the boy on the arm and doing extensive damage that a local hospital wasn't equipped to handle.

The Isanti County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate.
