A dog is dead after being shot in the head in the north metro, and its owner has accused her next-door neighbor of the crime.
Danielle Rajewsky's GoFundMe says "our beloved dog Buddy was shot in the head today by our neighbor." She created the online fundraiser Wednesday, only to announce in an update Thursday that her dog had died.
"Myself and my children are devastated. We are praying for Buddy and hope justice prevails in regards to this malicious act," she wrote. "But for now trying to prepare for all the expenses from this incident."
Buddy, a Dachshund, was taken to a veterinarian in Hugo, but life-saving efforts proved unsuccessful.
Rajewsky told KSTP that the vet said Buddy was shot at close range by a pellet gun.
Centennial Lakes Police Department is investigating, telling KSTP that it's a "very serious matter" and that criminal charges could be announced in the coming days.
As of Saturday morning, the fundraiser for Rajewsky had generated $220 of a $3,000 goal to help pay for medical expenses.
