He's the second runner to win the event three years in a row.

For the third year in a row, Kenya’s Dominic Ondoro slayed the Twin Cities marathon.

Ondoro covered the 26.2 miles in 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 53 seconds, Twin Cities in Motion said in a news release

That's a few minutes "slower" than the 29-year-old's time last year, when he broke the course record.

The course started in Minneapolis, weaved around the chain of lakes and ended near the State Capitol. Ondoro was in the lead for the entire race.

Look at him go:

Coming in right behind Ondoro was his training partner, Elisha Barno. Barno has been the runner-up behind his friend for three straight years.

“I’m happy to win the race. We were supposed to do teamwork and there was teamwork, back and forth, back and forth.” Ondoro told Twin Cities in Motion.

When asked about the secret to his success, Ondoro said, “I do hard training.”

He's only the second runner to win the event three years in a row, Twin Cities in Motion says. His fellow countryman Andrew Musuva was the first to do it in 1999.

The women's champ is also a repeat winner. Despite suffering from a cold and dealing with rainy weather, Jane Kibii, who is also Kenyan, repeated her 2016 win in just over two and a half hours.

Kibii, 32, is only the third woman to win back-to-back Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon titles, Twin Cities in Motion says.

Both Ondoro and Kibii will take home a cool $10,000 for their victories.

A total of 7,518 runners finished the 36th annual Twin Cities premier marathon.

More than 26,000 runners participated in Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend events, organizers said.

Besides the marathon, there were other races of various lengths, from a 5K to a 10-miler, plus activities for kids.

“The skies gave us a little rain, but overall it was a wonderful day for running,” Twin Cities In Motion Executive Director Virginia Brophy Achman said in the release. “We are pleased to organize an event that gives the community an opportunity to move together.”
