Donations pour in for family of woman, 25, who died hours after giving birth

Around 700 women die every year in the U.S. from pregnancy or delivery complications.

Tens of thousands of dollars have poured into an online fundraiser that was launched after a Superior woman died after giving birth to her first child.

Alexa Rae Jerulle, 25, died hours after giving birth to a baby boy on Mar. 7, with a GoFundMe page set up after her death explaining that she "suffered post delivery complications."

Jerulle leaves behind her fiancé, Brock Flamang, who is navigating an "unfathomable loss while adjusting to being a new Dad," the fundraiser says. All donations are going to Brock and his now-three-week-old baby, Braxtyn – and donations have so far surpassed $63,000.

The fundraiser has a goal of reaching $75,000 to help with short- and long-term needs. To donate, click here

According to the CDC, approximately 700 women die in the U.S. each year from pregnancy or delivery complications.

"There was nothing more Alexa looked forward to than being a mother and was thrilled to be starting a family with her fiancé Brock and baby Braxtyn," Jerulle's obituary reads

Jerulle attended St. Michael-Albertville High School before moving to the Duluth area in 2017.
