AccuWeather says this year will likely look a lot like the last, and the Twin Cities could among the hardest hit regions.

Lower gas prices haven't hurt, either. Some consumers can expect their total winter heating bills to be up to $200 less than last year.

Remember, last winter was particularly warm though.

There's no airfare relief in sight for passengers flying out of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, the Star Tribune reports. Tickets for flights out of the Delta-dominated hub are likely to rise 5.4 percent to 7.9 percent next year, according to the 2013 travel-price forecast released Monday by Carlson Wagonlit Travel.

Applications are now available for low income families that need help taking care of their heating bills. The program runs from October through May.

The Minnesota Department of Commerce says the state will receive $73 million in federal funds to help low-income families pay their heating bills. That's half of what the state got last year.

CenterPoint Energy told WCCO, January's home heating prices are at their lowest point in 10 years. The company says heating demand is down 14 percent compared to last winter. A spokesperson says the average gas bill is about 25 percent less, a trend that is expected to continue into 2012.
