Target's new design partner will really have you dreaming for the beach on these cold winter days.

The Minneapolis-based company announced Tuesday it will be teaming up with Lilly Pulitzer – a brand known for vibrant patterns and colorful resort wear – for a limited-edition 250-piece collection featuring 15 exclusive prints.

The line will launch April 19 at Target stores and on Target.com, and includes apparel, accessories and shoes for women and girls. There will also be home accents, outdoor entertaining accessories, beach gear and travel essentials.

Like the retailer's other design partnerships (including this fall's Joseph Altuzarra line), the Lilly Pulitzer collection will be less expensive than the brand's main line, ranging in price from $2 to $150, with most of the pieces under $30, Refinery29 notes. And for the first time, the line will include plus sizes – something shoppers criticized with the Altuzarra line.

The mother of American resort wear

It started with a juice stand.

Lilly Pulitzer, who has been dubbed the mother of American resort wear, lived a life of luxury in Palm Beach, Florida, with her husband, who owned orange groves.

Pulitzer, who died in 2013 at age 81, always wanted to look her best, so when she would man her juice stand she'd wear vibrant-printed shift dresses – the colorful patterns covered up the juice stains.

These fashionable dresses caught the attention of her friends – including Jackie Kennedy – and she began selling them at her juice stand. Eventually those dresses became the "unofficial uniform" of every woman in town.
