St. Paul police are investigating the 29th homicide in the city this year following a drive-by shooting Thursday night.

According to a release, a man who has not been identified died at Regions Hospital around 4:15 a.m. Friday. He had been the victim of a drive-by shooting around 10:20 p.m. Thursday on the 400 block of Thomas Avenue, located in the South Frogtown neighborhood.

The victim was initially listed in stable condition after arriving at the hospital, but police say the man's condition worsened and he died.

"At this time, the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, although preliminary information indicates that this was a drive-by shooting and not random," St. Paul PD said in a release.
