A rollover crash in the glare ice conditions seen across the Twin Cities metro Saturday morning claimed the life of an elderly driver.

The 82-year-old was behind the wheel of a GMC Sierra on I-35E at Main Street, Lino Lakes, when he left the road.

The GMC rolled into a ditch on the right hand side of the interstate.

The driver was killed in the crash, and has since been identified as Charles Quernemoen, of East Bethel.

The Minnesota State Patrol's crash report says that Quernemoen was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

There were countless crashes across the Twin Cities metro area on Saturday morning after freezing rain made for treacherous conditions.

A "no travel" advisory was later issued, and was kept in place until conditions started improving around 12:30 p.m.
