A motorist who crashed into multiple parked cars in north Minneapolis during the overnight hours had been shot, according to police.
According to Minneapolis police, officers were alerted to a ShotSpotter activation at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday on the 3800 block of Girard Avenue North.
On arrival, police found a vehicle that had crashed into several parked cars in the middle of the block, and the driver of the vehicle was suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim, a man believed to be aged in his 50s, didn't have a pulse and wasn't breathing. Officers performed CPR until paramedics took over, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A homicide investigation has been launched with assistance from the Crime Lab.
The incident marks the 77th homicide of the year in Minneapolis.
