Driver dies after car goes airborne in Anoka County crash

The crash happened in Oak Grove around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver of a car was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday night in Anoka Counties.

A 43-year-old Minneapolis man was traveling east in the 4000 block of Viking Blvd. NW in Oak Grove around 8:40 p.m., with the Anoka County Sheriff's Office reporting that the vehicle was observed swerving before drifting off the road, then going airborne off an embankment and becoming pinned by several trees.

Oak Grove Fire Department secured the car to prevent it from rolling and the man was extricated from the Toyota Scion.

Lifesaving efforts were attempted at the scene but the man was pronounced dead before a helicopter that was called in could arrive.
