Driver dies after crashing into turning semi truck's trailer in southern Minnesota
A driver died Thursday after colliding with the trailer of a turning semi truck.
The driver of a Subaru was heading eastbound on Nicollet County Road 1 in New Sweden Township around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, according to the Nicollet County Sheriff's Office. That's about 14 miles northeast of New Ulm.
At 481st Avenue, 56-year-old New Ulm man Allen Dauer was behind the wheel of a semi truck turning onto 481st Avenue, to head westbound.
As this happened, the Subaru crashed into the truck's trailer.
The Subaru's driver, whose name is not being released at this time, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health Systems Mankato, where he died, the sheriff's office said. The semi truck driver was uninjured.
The Nicollet County Sheriff's Office said the cause of the crash is being investigated.
