A driver died in western Minnesota on Friday after he drove into a construction zone and struck a tractor-trailer.
The Minnesota State Patrol says the incident was reported at 4:39 p.m. Friday, and involved a Nissan Murano heading eastbound on Highway 28 in Stevens County, west of Morris.
A 1997 Freightliner tractor truck was "completing agricultural work" in the construction zone, per the State Patrol, when the Murano entered the area, "fishtailed" and collided with the truck.
Killed in the crash was 69-year-old driver Abdi Muhamud Juma, while a 21-year-old passenger, Kamil Mohamud Jama, was taken to Sanford Hospital in Fargo with life-threatening injuries.
The State Patrol says neither of them was wearing a seat belt. Nobody was injured in the Freightliner.
