A man has become St. Paul's 32nd homicide victim of 2020, after a late-night shooting in Midway.

The shooting happened on University Avenue outside the distinctive Spruce Tree Center building just before 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Per St. Paul Police Department, a man called 911 to report he'd been shot while driving along University Avenue. He died early Thursday morning at Regions Hospital.

The victim was found inside his Toyota Prius suffering a gunshot wound to the chest. His car came to rest at a bus shelter just south of University.

Police's preliminary investigation suggests the man may have been shot by someone in another vehicle. At this stage, no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information should call 651-266-5650.

St. Paul's 32 homicides in 2020 is two more than it had in all of 2019.
