Driver injured after falling asleep, crashing into trees

A 55-year-old man was taken to the hospital on Wednesday after he fell asleep behind the wheel and crashed into several trees.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says Jon Stone of Grey Eagle was traveling northbound on County Road 167 in Millwood Township when he fell asleep and missed the curve in the road.

He ended up going into the eastside ditch near Long Lake Road, where his vehicle went airborne and hit several trees before coming to a stop. 

Stone was taken to Melrose Hospital.
