Driver killed after rear-ending semi in northwest Minnesota

It happened on Hwy. 2 near Crookston.

A Grand Forks, North Dakota man died Thursday after crashing into the back of a semi-truck in northwest Minnesota. 

The Minnesota State Patrol says Christopher Todd Bacon, 51, was driving westbound on Hwy. 2 near Crookston when his 2010 Chevy Tahoe ran into the back of a 2013 Peterbilt Glider 389. 

Bacon was wearing his seatbelt and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. It's unclear what caused the crash, which remains under investigation.

According to MnDOT, there have been 125 deaths on Minnesota roads this year (as of June 7).  

The driver of the Peterbilt was also wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
