Man suffers severe electrical burns after truck makes contact with power line
A man suffered severe electrical burns after the truck he was operating struck a power line on Friday.
The accident happened around 12 p.m. in Chippewa County, according to sheriff, who says someone called 911 to report that the operator of a fertilizer truck had hit a power line and that the driver was unconscious on the ground near the vehicle.
First responders got the scene and found the driver, a 61-year-old man, conscious and alert but suffering from severe electrical burn injuries from making contact with a Xcel Energy power line.
The man was transported by Clara City Ambulance to a hospital in Montevideo, and later airlifted to HCMC in Minneapolis.
Investigators determined that the hydraulic auger of the fertilizer truck made contact with the power line in a rural area southeast of Maynard.
