A driver is battling life-threatening injuries after being thrown from her vehicle in a crash outside Minneapolis' Lowry Hill Tunnel early Tuesday.
Crystal Bauer, 35 of St. Paul, was behind the wheel of a Pontiac Torrent just before 1 a.m., heading eastbound on 94, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
When coming out of the tunnel, Bauer lost control while negotiating the subsequent curve at Groveland Avenue, the State Patrol said. Her vehicle went up the embankment, "rolled several times" then landed on its roof.
Bauer, who the State Patrol said was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries.
There was one passenger in the vehicle, 43-year-old Karl Johnson, whom the State Patrol said was belted. He suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Both were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. The State Patrol said alcohol may have been a factor.
