Drug warning in Rochester after men aged 18, 22 die from overdoses
Rochester Police Department has issued a warning after a pair of overdoses claimed the lives of two young men this past week.
RPD says that a man aged 18 died this week after buying pills that resembled the prescription opioid oxycodone.
Another man, aged 22 and with a history of drug use, also died this week.
While their causes of death haven't yet been confirmed, and might not be for several weeks, the police department has warned local residents about the dangers of purchasing drugs off the streets.
The department noted that its officers seized a number of pills resembling oxycodone during a bust last month.
It notes that while the pills are shaped like oxycodone, it may contain more powerful substances, such as the synthetic opioid fentanyl, which has been behind an increasing number of overdose deaths in Minnesota.
