Drugs suspected in crash that kills 1, injures 3 in Inver Grove Heights
A 29-year-old passenger was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Inver Grove Heights on Friday night.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am occupied by three people was westbound on Hwy. 62 when it, as the report says, "allegedly" came to a stop in the right lane near Robert Trail in Inver Grove Heights.
Stopped in the lane, the car was hit from behind by a 2016 Dodge Ram.
Ahmed Ibrahim Ahmed, 29, of Minneapolis, died from his injuries after being transported to Regions Hospital for care. Ahmed was a passenger in the Grand Am.
The driver and another passenger of the car suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Regions Hospital.
A 37-year-old Brooklyn Center man driving the Dodge Ram was also taken to Regions Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The State Patrol says drugs are suspected to have played a role in the crash.
