A 77-year-old Duluth man was found safe early Friday morning after he went missing while searching for golf balls, the Duluth News Tribune reports.

The man, who has dementia, was searching for golf balls at Enger Park Golf Course Thursday. He was last seen at about 2 p.m. at the home he shares with his son, and concerned family members called police just after 9:30 p.m. because they said the man always returned home before dark.

The News Tribune said he was found at at about 1:15 a.m. Friday by the St. Louis County Rescue Squad.

He was reportedly alive and well, but cold.

The paper said the Border Patrol helped the search with a handheld thermal-imaging device, and the Minnesota State Patrol searched for the man from the air.

The News Tribune said the same man went missing a couple of years ago at a different area golf course.
