Dump truck splits car in half, killing the driver

Witnesses say the driver of the car pulled out in front of the truck.

A head-on collision between a car and a dump truck killed the driver of the car in Isanti County on Monday. 

The Isanti County Sheriff's Office reports that the crash happened around 1:10 p.m. at Flamingo Street Northwest and County Road 10. 

First responders arrived at the scene and found that the impact of the crash split the car in two. The car's driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. 

The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Alexander Hoss, of Woodbury. 

Witnesses told the sheriff's office that Hoss pulled out in front of the dump truck, which was traveling east on County Road 10.

However, the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol. 

The dump truck driver was not injured.
