Early Saturday fire damages Burger King in Richfield
A Burger King in Richfield is temporarily closed after a fire early Saturday morning.
According to Richfield Fire Chief Mike Kobesh, the fire was reported at the W. 66th St. Burger King around 1:15 a.m. and mostly contained to an outside building housing a garbage dumpster, with firefighters able to extinguish the blaze by about 2:30 a.m.
Kobesh said Burger King sustained "a little bit of smoke damage in the building, but fo rthe most part all of the damage was really limited to the garbage area," though a significant amount of product was destroyed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, though it is suspected to have been accidental. Burger King will have to work with public health before reopening, Kobesh said.
