According a press release: The STEALTH Fly Station is a dark, reflective device that uses multiple stimulating characteristics to attract and eliminate flies around the exterior of a facility before they can become a problem inside. The device can be placed near common fly areas, such as dumpster corrals, to discreetly keep flies from interrupting daily operations.

Ecolab unveils flat-screen fly trap

St. Paul-based Ecolab is winning over customers with its new Stealth Fly Station, which looks like a flat-screen TV. The device impressed potential buyers at a recent trade show by discreetly attracting flies with its dark surface and an odor that flies love. The pests swarm to it like addicts needing a fix – and then drop dead.

Ecolab eliminating 500 jobs from global workforce

The move is part of a restructuring plan as the St. Paul-based company takes over Nalco Holding Co. The Business Journal reports Ecolab expects it can reduce its workforce largely through attrition. Most of the eliminated postions are corporate administrative jobs. Ecolab also expects these changes to reduce the need for future postions and help reach cost-savings goals.

Ecolab launches new bio-based cleaners

Minnesota-based Ecolab Inc. has introdcued a new environmentally friendly line of bio-based cleaners for commercial uses designed for hard surfaces like glass and bathroom surfaces. The company says the products are made from "plant-derived natural resources" and don't require protective equipment for use.

But the $10 million facility won't come with any new jobs, Patch reports. Much of the new space will be devoted to training, with additional space to house the company's growing research operations.

Ecolab to close Grand Forks office next summer, cut 144 full-time jobs

St. Paul-based Ecolab plans to close its Grand Forks office next July, the Herald reports. The facility has 144 full-time employees who support accounting, customer service, human resources, information technology and other administrative functions related to Ecolab's Pest Elimination business. Layoffs could begin as soon as January. Some employees may be able to work from home or take other jobs at Ecolab locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois or Indiana.

Ecolab to acquire chemical company Champion for $2.2 billion

St. Paul-based Ecolab plans to buy Houston-based Champion Technologies Inc. for about $2.2 billion in cash and stock to complement last year’s purchase of Nalco Holding Co. and grab a larger share of the oilfield-chemicals business, Bloomberg News reports.
