Embattled Iron Range police chief steps down

The city of Virginia has finally reached an agreement with its police chief Dana Waldron, after a third negotiation the city had with him in an effort to get him to leave. Grievances were filed against him in late 2010 over his management of the department and relationships with city employees and administration.

John Harrington, a former St. Paul police chief who retired after just one two-year stint as a DFL state senator, will become the new chief of police that enforces the law on Metro Transit buses, light rail and commuter rail. He'll oversee law enforcement on a rapidly growing network of light rail and bus transit in the Twin Cities.

Brodkorb is latest GOP heavyweight to abruptly step down

State Senate spokesman Michael Brodkorb, a key Republican figure in Minnesota, is leaving his post. He's also stepping down from his work with the Mike Parry First District Congressional campaign. His resignation comes after his boss, Amy Koch, suddenly left her job as Senate Majority Leader after allegations she had an inappropriate relationship with a Senate staffer.
