Empty boat washes ashore the Mississippi River in Minnesota, search for man ongoing
A boat with no one on board washed ashore along the Mississippi River, prompting an all day search for the missing sailor.
The sailboat was found Sunday morning about one mile north of Camp Lacupolas, which is between Lake City and Wabasha, Minnesota, on the west side of the river.
"All we have is that we found a sailboat run ashore on the Minnesota side of the river at about 8 a.m," said Wabasha County Sheriff Rodney Bartsch in an email to BMTN.
"Efforts are being coordinated between Pepin and Wabasha County," Sheriff Bartsch added. "The boat motor was still running. We believe the man had gone on board to sleep at around 9 p.m. last night."
