Tributes have been paid to an entrepreneur killed when an SUV driven by a suspected drunk-driver crashed into a Minnesota business.

The Sherburne County Sheriff's Office says the Chevy Tahoe operated by 63-year-old Robert Allen Johnson drove 30 to 40 feet inside Reliant Systems in Fremont Avenue, Zimmerman on Monday.

Four people inside the business at the time were injured in the crash, among them 51-year-old Daniel Mark Elliott, of Hamburg, Minnesota, who died on Wednesday.

The Star News reports that Elliott sustained what proved to be fatal injuries after he was pinned beneath one of the SUV's tires.

Four other people were injured, including one critically and another who was in intensive care, but has since been listed as being in serious condition.

According to KSTP, Elliott was an entrepreneur who had several patents to his name and sold his first business for $5 million.

He was a generous member of the community, with his wife Stacey describing him as "kind of a Robin Hood,"

"His mom would call him up and tell him somebody was in need. He would just drive up to their mailbox and put in five thousand in and not tell him who it was," she told the TV station.

In a Facebook post, Randy Olerich, cofounder of Reliant Systems, said Elliott was a vendor of Reliant Systems and had stopped by to visit when the SUV crashed into the building, wiping out half of the front office and sending debris, desks and cubicles flying.

He referred to Elliott as his long-time colleague, mentor and friend of 25-plus years.

Charges of criminal vehicular operation and DWI against Johnson have now been joined with a separate charge of criminal vehicular homicide and negligent driving.

The investigation continues, but according to a criminal complaint, Johnson admitted drinking alcohol before the crash, with a blood sample taken from him sent for testing.
