A Minnesota man is dead after being struck by a bullet while working in his garage.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office reports that a 41-year-old man was working in his garage around 7:40 p.m. Friday on the 1000 block of 4th St. SW when a bullet burst through the wall of the garage and pierced the man in the chest.
The sheriff's office says family members witnessed the man "suddenly collapse." Paramedics transported the man to Carris Hospital in Willmar while attempting to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead.
"Evidence indicates that an errant bullet came from a location off of the homeowner's property, through the garage wall and struck him," the sheriff's release says, adding that a "high risk search warrant" was served Saturday on the 1000 block of 3rd St. SW and no arrests were made.
Authorities are investigating the shooting as a homicide, though "there is no evidence to indicate the homeowner was an intended target or victim."
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Willmar Police Department at 320-235-2244.
