Expect big slowdowns on I-35W as crews try to protect against flooding

The right lane is closed on a portion of the interstate in Burnsville.

Minnesota Department of Transportation crews are currently working on building a dike to protect against flooding on the northbound side of Interstate 35W in Burnsville.

The right lane is closed between Cliff Road and Black Dog Road and will remain closed until about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

That means bigger delays than normal, especially during the afternoon rush.

Here's a look at MnDOT's traffic map from 11 a.m., showing slowdowns beginning around Burnsville Parkway before easing up a little bit north of Cliff Road.
