Search teams recovered the body of a person who went missing after being swept away in the Mississippi River during a thunderstorm early Sunday morning.

A group of five people were exploring tunnels when the thunderstorm hit and three of the five were "washed into the river" near the Marshall Avenue Bridge at about 12:45 a.m., according to the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office.

The two others were able to get out of the tunnel. Minneapolis Fire Department arrived at the scene and rescued four of the explorers.

The missing man was presumed to be in the river. Crews searched for him until 4 a.m. and then resumed the operation at 7 a.m. Sunday. The man's body was recovered around 11 a.m. near the Marshall Avenue Bridge.

The victim's identity has not been released. No further information has been provided.
