Face it, Adrian Peterson is no longer a coveted fantasy RB

Adrian Peterson is not being drafted as the fantasy running back that he used to be.

Common wisdom says Adrian Peterson will see fewer touches in New Orleans for several obvious reasons. The 32-year-old is competing in a crowded backfield and coming off a meniscus tear that limited him to three games last season.

All of that leaves fantasy football owners waiting all day to draft "All Day."

According to Fantasy Pros, the future hall of famer's average draft position (ADP) is No. 76 overall, and 26th among running backs. In standard 10-team leagues, that lands him as a mid-eighth-round selection in most drafts.

Meanwhile, the Vikings' 2017 second-round draft pick Dalvin Cook's ADP is eight spots higher than Peterson at No. 18 among running backs.

Peterson is expected to be sharing carries for the first time in his career with Saints' running backs Mark Ingram and rookie Alvin Kamara.

However, it's Father Time providing evidence that Peterson's days as an elite fantasy running back are likely behind him.

In a list compiled by Sporting Charts, only three running backs in NFL history have rushed for over 1,000 yards after the age of 32. Emmitt Smith did it with the Cowboys in 2001, Mike Anderson with Denver in 2005, and Ricky Williams with the Dolphins in 2009.

Here's ESPN similar list of 25 running backs that are currently coming off boards before Peterson.
