A second person has died following a police pursuit of a suspected street racer that ended in a crash Sunday morning in Minnetonka.
Marina Emms, 19, of Woodbury, died later Sunday after being transported to a local hospital, according to family members. She was a passenger in the vehicle that the Eden Prairie Police Department says was involved in a street race around 1:40 a.m. near Flying Cloud Drive and Crosstown Circle.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle fled when officers arrived. Police say that they chased the suspect vehicle along Highway 62 and then onto Baker Road before losing sight of the car under Interstate 494.
The vehicle was found crashed in a yard on the 5300 block of Baker Road.
The driver, identified by family members as 19-year-old Devlyn Voss, of Maplewood, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Voss' family issued a statement to KSTP-TV, mourning the loss of "two young beautiful souls."
Sunday's double-fatal crash happened less than 48 hours after two boys, ages 14 and 15, respectively, were killed when a driver fleeing police in Maplewood crashed into a yard.
