Family feud: 15 from 2 families cited in Moorhead brawl

Police say escalating tension between two families may have led to a large brawl between two families in Moorhead Wednesday afternoon, the Forum of Fargo-Moorhead reports.

Moorhead Police Lt. Mike Detloff says at least 20 people were involved in the melee, including men, women and juveniles.

Of them, 15 were cited for disorderly conduct, Detloff says.

Detloff says he doesn't believe the fight was gang-related, and that the dispute between the families has "been going on for a couple days."

Family feuds, of course, aren't anything new. The feud between the Hatfields and McCoys is probably the most notable one, dating back to the 1870s.

History has rundown of the Hatfields' and McCoys' troubles. The cable channel in 2012 went on to produce a hit mini-series starring Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton, which scored five Emmy Awards and another 11 Emmy nominations.
