Family identifies man who was fatally shot by Minneapolis police
The family of the man who was killed by Minneapolis police officers on Wednesday evening has identified him as Dolal Idd, of Eden Prairie.
Bayle Gelle, Idd's father, was at the Holiday gas station at East 36th Street and Cedar Avenue South in Minneapolis Thursday, where his son was killed the night prior.
A Go Fund Me set up to help the family pay for funeral expenses also identifies Idd as the man who was fatally shot by police.
Officials have not formally identified the man who was killed.
The MPD said Wednesday that the fatal shooting followed "an exchange of gunfire" that began after officers initiated a traffic stop on someone they described as a "felony suspect."
MPD Chief Medaria Arradondo said initial witness statements point to the victim having fired first, though this has not yet been officially confirmed.

Gelle told reporters he doesn't believe the MPD's narrative that his son shot first.
The MPD says it will release body camera footage sometime on Thursday.
