The family of a 20-year-old man killed in Maplewood last month is raising money to put toward a reward for anyone with information about his death.
Devinn Madley was gunned down on Aug. 28 as he walked into a store at around 8:45 p.m.
Police arrived at the scene to find Madley lying dead in the road at Larpenteur Avenue East and Howard Street North.
Madley’s family initially set up a GoFundMe to help pay for his funeral, which was held on Sept. 13. But in an update on Monday, the family said any money donated previously and any money going forward would instead help pay for a reward for anyone with information that leads to a suspect in relation to the shooting.
The GoFundMe had raised around $1,500 of its $3,000 goal as of Thursday morning, bringing the total reward being offered for information to find Madley's killer to $7,000.
“The police don't have a lot of information to go off of and people aren't calling in with tips. So, hopefully having a reward will get people to talk,” the page reads.
Madley's father told WCCO his son's death was "senseless," adding: "I need answers, I want answers, you know. He was a good kid, never got into trouble. He worked, he played video games, he paid bills. He was just getting into his way of life."
