The Business Journal says the Golden Valley-based restaurant chain has received nearly 700 awards since it debuted in 1994.

The founder of Famous Dave's, Dave Anderson, was also elected to the NBBQA National Board as a vice president.

“I feel blessed to be part of a great organization like the National Barbecue Association,” Anderson said in a news release. “We’re seeing an explosion of interest in all things smoked, grilled or sauced so it’s an honor to be elected to the Board of Directors at a critical time in the growth of this food industry category. The NBBQA stands to become as relevant as the National Dairy Council or the National Restaurant Association – almost every home in America has a backyard barbecue grill!”
