Police say a man fell to his death during Sunday's Packers-49ers game at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, The Associated Press reports.

Officials say just after 1:30 p.m. PT kickoff, the fan -- who appeared intoxicated by multiple witness accounts -- fell from an elevated pedestrian walkway at the stadium to the sidewalk below.

Police spokesman Gordon Shyy told the Associated Press that off-duty medics and police officers tried to give the man first aid until an ambulance arrived. However, he was declared dead from his injuries.

The name of the victim, reportedly in his 30s, has not been released.

The San Francisco Gate says the man was walking with his brother when the incident happened.

Officials aren't sure how the fan fell from the walkway, which goes around the stadium.

The death comes as the 49ers begin to play their final season at Candlestick, which is being shuttered by the team in favor of a new $1.2 billion stadium in Silicon Valley.

Also Sunday, two fans in Indianapolis avoided serious injury during the Colts-Raiders game after a railing they were leaning against above the tunnel leading to the game collapsed, The AP reports.

The Institute for the Study of Sports Incidents says more than two dozen fans have fallen at stadiums across the country in the last 10 years.

Most recently, a fan in Atlanta died after falling over a fourth-level railing and plunging 85 feet during a Braves baseball game last month.
