Farm worker trapped in corn bin dies despite hour-long rescue effort in Barron County

Rescuers managed to get him out, but he died from his injuries.

A man who was rescued after becoming trapped in a corn bin sadly died later from his injuries.

Responders were called to a farm south of Turtle Lake in Barron County, western Wisconsin, at 12:22 p.m. on Wednesday.

Responders worked for more than an hour to rescue the man, eventually managing to extricate him from the bin before flying him to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Unfortunately, the Barron County Sheriff's Office later confirmed that the man had succumbed to his injuries.

"The effort put forth by the family and first responders in this case was truly amazing and our prayers are with the family," Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said.
