A southern Minnesota farmer will pay a hefty fine to the state's wetland conservation fund and perform 100 hours of community service after doing tremendous damage to one of the state's largest pelican colonies. The man apparently became enraged after the birds damaged land that he had rented to grow corn. The birds are protected under federal law.
