Farmington man killed in rear-end crash
A 65-year-old man was killed in a crash on Pilot Knob Road in Farmington on Wednesday.
According to Farmington police, at 11:36 a.m. on Feb. 24, a 29-year-old man from Farmington was driving a pickup truck south on Pilot Knob Road when it rear-ended a Ford Escape, driven by Mark Holton of Farmington, who was stopped in the left lane waiting to turn east onto 206th Street West.
Holton was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver was checked out by paramedics and declined further medical attention, the release says. No one else was in either vehicle.
“Motor vehicle crashes are almost always preventable. This was a tragic result and our thoughts are with Mr. Holton’s family and friends during this difficult time,” Farmington Police Chief Gary Rutherford said in a statement.
No other details about the crash have been released. Court records show the driver of the pickup truck has a history of speeding tickets and a drunken driving offense.
