Highway 55 westbound was out of action for 11 hours on Monday after a fatal crash during the rush hour.
The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash was reported just before 8 a.m. at Argenta Trail near Inver Grove Heights, with the westbound highway not re-opening until just before 8 p.m.
The crash saw a 2007 BMW slowing for a light change, only to be rear ended by a dump truck that had swerved to the right to avoid it.
The dump truck then rolled onto its side, leaving the road and making contact with a signal.
The State Patrol confirmed that there had been at least one fatality, but hasn't said who has died and from which vehicle.
Traffic was diverted via Highway 52 during the closure.
