The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a cargo van and semi in Scott County.
The collision happened around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday on southbound Interstate 35 at 260th St. in New Market Township. The State Patrol crash report says the cargo van – Ford Econoline – was southbound in the right lane of I-35 and the semi was in the left lane.
As the van passed the semi it clipped its front corner, causing the van to slide in front of the semi and into the median. The van then rolled before coming to a rest on its roof in the median.
The driver of the cargo van was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified Mohammed Abdullah Adam, 39, of Lexington, Nebraska.
A 42-year-old South Carolina man driving the freightliner was not injured.
Alcohol was not a factor and road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.
