At least one person was killed in a crash involving a car and a MnDOT pickup truck in Minneapolis Wednesday evening.
A Minnesota Department of Transportation truck crew was clearing debris on the southbound side of I-35W at 50th Street at around 8:30 p.m., with the Minnesota State Patrol saying the truck was on the right shoulder with emergency lights on.
As traffic slowed and merged to accommodate the DOT vehicle, the driver of a Nissan Versa allegedly overcorrected and lost control.
The car collided with the MnDOT vehicle and then a concrete wall.
The crash has been confirmed as fatal, but at this stage it's not clear how many died.
The MnDOT truck – a Ford F350 – was being driven by a 40-year-old woman from Eagan, with the passenger a 23-year-old man from St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin.
The Versa was being driven by a 25-year-old man from Richfield. More details are expected to be released later on Thursday.
