A fatal crash has led to authorities shutting down a stretch of westbound Highway 36 in the Twin Cities Friday morning.
The State Patrol says the fatal crash happened on westbound Hwy. 36 at Arcade Street in Maplewood. The westbound lanes of the highway are closed beginning at U.S. 61 and will remain closed for "an extended period of time," according to the State Patrol.
MnDOT's road conditions website says the closure is expected to last approximately three more hours (as of 7 a.m.). Traffic is being diverted north on U.S. 61.
